Furniture World News Desk on 2/19/2016

Kevin McLaughlin, managing partner of event producer MKM Expos reports that the 2016 Northeast Furniture & Accessory Market (NFAM) saw an increase in attendance and an expanded trade floor. Co-sponsored by the Greater Metropolitan Furniture Association (GMFA), the annual event was held on January 31 – February 2 at the New Jersey Convention Center in Edison.

“With just two months to produce the event, we had an extremely short window getting the Market off the ground, and we’re very pleased with the results,” said McLaughlin. “Based on exhibitor and attendee responses to the event, there is a huge potential for future regional Markets in the Northeast. Already, a number of key manufacturers and distributors have reached out to request exhibit space for next year’s show.”

“We greatly appreciate the furnishings trade show that MKM as produced,” said Alan Granetz, director of sponsor GMFA. “Under Kevin’s direction, they’ve brought sweeping change to our market with new and updated exhibitors, fresh and clean displays, and a new sense of professionalism. We look forward to an ongoing relationship with MKM-produced events.”

This year marked NFAM’s initial production under the auspices of the Spring Lake, NJ-based MKM Expos, which recently acquired and renamed the 56-year-old event. It annually showcases a wide range of products and services for the furniture and home decor industries, with this year’s exhibitors including Ashley Furniture, Global Furniture, Therapedic/Eastman House, Cosmos Furniture, Home Source, Mainline Inc., Furniture World Distributors and many more. The visitor profile includes everything from a range of independent furniture retailers, home décor and gift stores, and interior designers among others.

“Exhibitors tell us that the quality of attendees was significantly improved and orders were stronger than past years,” said McLaughlin. “They were also excited about the new look of the event, the quality and amount of advertising/promotions, and our new layout for the event. Our first Market has established a solid foundation to further expand the event to serve the Northeast furniture and home décor industries moving forward.”

The 2017 event is scheduled for January 8-9 at the New Jersey Convention Center in Edison. For more information visit http://nefurnituremarket.com/
