Furniture World News Desk on 3/12/2017

International Home Furnishings Industry recently announced that their West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament honorees from Parker House Furniture toured City of Hope’s medical campus to kick-off their fundraising campaign. Joined by over 60 industry friends and family, Lifetime Achievement Award honorees, Chris Lupo and Victor Zonni saw firsthand the incredible research facilities that foster science that saves lives. “City of Hope’s campus tour was an amazing experience. It really shed light on all the incredible work being done to advance cancer and diabetes research, as well as treating patients every day,” stated Lupo, chief executive officer of Parker House.

Added Zonni, chief operating officer of Parker House, “We are humbled and excited to be partners in City of Hope’s International Home Furnishings 26th Annual West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament. We encourage everyone to come out and be a part of this event to support lifesaving research, which brings hope to many every day.”

“Funds raised through this longstanding event support City of Hope’s compassionate care and breakthrough research that has led to therapies benefitting millions of people worldwide with cancer and diabetes,” added Rick Powell, co-chair of the Tournament.

The fun-filled golf and tennis outing will be held Monday, June 12 at the beautiful Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club in Southern California. Golfers will enjoy first class treatment as they experience a variety of contests and on-course entertainment throughout the two courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., starting with a putting contest led by LPGA champion and World Golf Hall of Famer, Amy Alcott. All players and dinner guests will enjoy a robust silent and live auction, including trips to Hawaii, an extensive Wine Cellar, Brighton and Pandora jewelry, and unique packages for the entire family. The day concludes with a buffet dinner and award ceremony to salute the contest winners and honorees from Parker House Furniture. All funds raised from the auction, sponsorships, raffle and registrations benefit translational cancer and diabetes research at City of Hope.

More about the International Home Furnishings Industry Group: The International Home Furnishings Industry (IHFI) chapter was formed in 1965 as one of City of Hope’s first industry-based chapters. Led by dedicated industry and community leaders, this group encompasses every related industry segment: retailers, manufacturers, sales representatives, suppliers and associated service providers. Each year, IHFI begins a new fundraising campaign led by its two flagship events, The Spirit of Life® Award Dinner held during April Market in High Point, North Carolina and the West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament held each June in Coto de Caza, California. These events spearhead the annual fundraising efforts; however, many industry companies partner with City of Hope to raise additional funds with amazing success. IHFI is one of City of Hope’s premier fundraising groups, having raised over $93 million to fund innovative medical research and quality patient care at City of Hope.
