Southerland Launches National Program with Wayfair

Furniture World News Desk on 5/26/2021

Independent bedding manufacturer Southerland has launched a national program with Wayfair, one of the world’s leading e-commerce retailers of home goods. The Southerland program offers a collection of six boxed mattresses, which can be shipped direct to consumers nationally within five days.

Southerland’s Wayfair collection includes three gel memory foam models, two hybrids and one innerspring bed. The foam models use enhanced layers of premium comfort foams and are designed with an HD power foam core that has been vigorously tested to ensure proper recovery from long periods of compression and quick recovery. The hybrids and the innerspring bed are made with wrapped coils and enhanced premium comfort foams. The coils provide the same reduced motion transfer as traditional wrapped coils but are preloaded for enhanced edge support. The prices range from $329.99 to $529.99 for queen-sized beds.

“As a domestic manufacturer with the capability of producing a variety of bed-in a-box models within a five-day lead time, Southerland has positioned itself as a premier partner for Wayfair to support the continued demand for online mattresses, which was further accelerated by the pandemic,” said Jim Nation, executive vice president of national accounts for Southerland. “We have also seen a renewed sense of patriotism among American consumers who want to support U.S. manufacturers in the current economy, further boosting interest in domestically produced products, which can also be delivered quicker – a benefit that isn’t always possible with the lead times associated with some imported products.”

The company’s Wayfair orders are serviced throughout the U.S. from its roll-pack facility in Oklahoma City via a direct-to-consumer logistics service. The service ensures that the mattress is delivered to the consumer’s doorstep in five days and includes a state-of-the-art notification system that keeps the customer fully informed during the shipment process.

“This new partnership has allowed us to offer our bed-in-a-box products to a broader consumer audience through Wayfair’s industry-leading platform,” said Bryan Smith, president and chief executive officer of Southerland. “By consistently meeting Wayfair’s high standards, this partnership not only allows us to grow in this important segment online, but also positions us for growth with our other brick-and-mortar retail partners that already have an online presence or are expanding into the e-commerce arena.

“This has been a tremendous opportunity for us to continue to enhance our bed-in-a-box program and our focus on customer service and logistics, as many of our brick-and-mortar partners are expanding into e-commerce,” Smith added.

While Wayfair’s product line is exclusive to the e-commerce retailer, Southerland offers its “iBnB” line of roll pack items for its many retail partners – the line offers similar features and benefits to the Wayfair products.
