MicroD Announces ADA Readiness For Their OmniVue Platform

Furniture World News Desk on 5/2/2016

MicroD Incorporated, the provider of integrated web-based home furnishings merchandising and eCommerce solutions, recently announced significant upgrades to their OmniVue website platform to help customers meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) with their websites.

The ADA prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life. While there is no requirement mandated by law right now for private businesses' websites, experts expect that the law will require websites to follow the Web Consortium Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

According to Ron Gordon, MicroD's Senior VP of Technology, "Our latest release of the OmniVue platform has been significantly enhanced to follow the Web Consortium's accessibility guidelines. With these improvements, the website can be easily read by a screen reader, images carry additional text descriptions, and color contrast is improved to assist those that are visually impaired. The site can be navigated with only the keyboard or through voice commands so that those with limited fine motor skills can use the site." He further commented that, "Our customers have the option to upgrade to this platform and also update their unique website designs to meet these accessibility guidelines. We highly encourage them to contact their web advisors at MicroD."
