Ashley Furniture Arranges Emotional Homecoming For US Soldier

Ashley Furniture reported that it continues to spread holiday cheer with its Home for the Holidays Contest. Recently the company arranged for an emotional homecoming for U.S. Soldier Kevin Patrick. 

The surprise was coordinated in great length by Kevin's sister Kristen, a teacher in Brewster, New York, and made possible by Ashley Furniture HomeStore. The soldier's parents, Wade and Brenda Patrick, believed she nominated them for a Living and Dining Room makeover. The two rooms were redecorated by an Ashley Furniture specialist and during the final reveal, the doorbell rang. Brenda was stunned and speechless when she opened the door and saw her son. 

The soldier, who served in Afghanistan and is currently stationed in Fort Bragg, has been unable to be with his family for the holiday for several years since he joined the Army.

"I couldn't believe my eyes, we haven't seen Kevin during Thanksgiving for years," said Brenda. "It was a dream come true."

"We're reminded during this time of year and in light of current global affairs that family is everything," said Mark Dufresne, the CEO of Global Retail for Ashley Furniture HomeStore. "The entire Patrick family has given a lot to their communities and couldn't be more deserving of this reunion."

Wade, a bus driver and former paramedic, along with his wife, two daughters, son-in-law and nephew, were thrilled to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together with Kevin, who just competed and received gold in the Cambrian Patrol, an annual international military patrolling exercise in Wales. They even got to meet his girlfriend for the first time, during his 3-Day leave from base.

Now through February 3rd, individuals can submit their own photos at home with family during the holidays on Instagram, with the hashtag #AshleyHolidayContest, and they will be entered for a chance to win a $4,000 room refresh.
