Contemporary specialist, PerLora, recently voted Pittsburgh’s best furniture store, launched a new 2,500 square-foot Metropolitan Home Collection presentation gallery with an afternoon soiree and an evening black-tie VIP cocktail reception. Both sold-out events raised money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Guests of honor, Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, designer of the Metropolitan Home Collection, and Jo-Anne Pier, senior retail merchandising editor for Metropolitan Home magazine, mingled with a crowd of more than 150 attendees prior to unveiling the collection. Earlier in the day, PerLora hosted a special luncheon reception for more than 70 area architects and interior designers. The luncheon included a seminar led by Noriega-Ortiz and Pier, and a reading featuring author Karin B. Miller, editor of The Cancer Poetry Project, an award-winning anthology of 140 poems. The Metropolitan Home Collection, produced by Shermag, includes bedroom, dining room, living room, and accent pieces crafted from exotic veneers, acrylic, and a wide range of fabrics and leathers. The collection was introduced to consumers in September in Chicago, and numerous regional events are scheduled to debut the collection throughout the U.S. and Canada in late 2007 and early 2008.
