Ameriwood Home Creates New Bundling System to Help Combat Out-of-Stock Inventory

By matching current TV stands with a space to put an electric fireplace without changing the structure, Ameriwood Home has been able to double their SKUs without doubling inventory and warehouse space.

Ameriwood Home, a division of Dorel Industries Inc., recently announced that started designing multi-functional TV stands that aid in supporting their high demand for electric fireplaces. By matching current TV stands with a space to put an electric fireplace without changing the structure, Ameriwood Home has been able to double their SKUs without doubling inventory and warehouse space.

According to the 2018 Housewares Census, in 2016, electric fireplace sales were at $182 million and increased almost 3 percent in 2017, which is the same upward trend that Ameriwood Home has reported with their electric fireplace category. For Ameriwood Home, a significant surge took place in Q3 2018 with 60 percent gain year over year.

"Being able to combine a TV stand with the fireplace electric insert was the natural next step in meeting high demand. Our fireplace TV stands sell all year, and we want to have plenty of options for cold-weather seasons. We have been able to offer consumers our most popular styles this way," Ray Toal, VP E-commerce Sales, explained.

With the winter months approaching sales will peak for electric fireplaces. The advancement of Ameriwood Home's dual TV stand and electric fireplace system will help to keep a more extensive inventory.

Combatting the dreaded out-of-stock status has been a high priority for Ameriwood Home. The new multifunctional TV stand design will open warehouse space and cut down shipping time from import factories to U.S. warehouses to get ahead of top selling items. Shipping product quickly when needed has always been crucial, and the option to bundle TV stands with electric fireplace inserts takes out a step in the process for a faster shipment time.  

These bundles are available on websites such as Amazon, Wayfair, and Walmart.com as either TV stands or fireplace TV stands for purchase. Once the order is placed, the consumer will receive the TV stand in one box and, if ordering the fireplace TV stand version, an electric fireplace insert will arrive in a second box. This process will be the new standard for all Ameriwood Home fireplace TV stands going forward. Ameriwood Home hopes to create more seamless operations to keep shelves stocked as the popularity of Ready-to-Assemble furniture, and small space living trends grow.
