Furniture World News Desk on 5/25/2018

The Canadian Furniture Show reports that Canada’s only national furniture show gets underway today. From Friday to Sunday, May 25-27, 2018, the Show will attract thousands of buyers from across Canada and internationally at The International Centre, in Mississauga. New will be “in” and trendy at the 46th edition of the event, with more than 200 exhibitors - including over 50 new ones - who will unveil their new products to thousands of participants.

“The results of the annual surveys we conduct indicate that visitors want to see the new trends and products showcased by top-notch exhibitors,” said Pierre Richard, President and CEO of the Show. “The 2018 edition of the Show is spotlighting the quality of the exhibitors, promoting their latest products and displaying the current trends in the market.”

A new Trend Showcase will be set up in Hall 2 to feature a selection of new products and the latest trends. From photos submitted by Show exhibitors, Linda Mazur of Linda Mazur Design Group, an award-winning residential designer and a regular contributor to the Toronto Sun and Condo Life Magazine, selected items that represent the current trends based on their materials, fabrics and colours. This is sure to strike a responsive chord with visitors seeking some inspiration!

Also, the Best Booth Awards are back with a new twist! The awards recognize the efforts made by certain exhibitors to design an outstanding booth. Eight (8) new categories have been created this year and a jury composed of four industry professionals will evaluate all the booths. The jury members are: Rosamund Kavander, an interior designer and colour specialist; Vicky Sanderson, a writer and independent collaborator to the Toronto Star, Homes & Condos and Reno & Décor magazine; Martin Slofstra, a Toronto Sun writer and the editor of New Homes and Condos; and Melisa Tossel, an interior designer specializing in residential design. The award winners will be announced on Saturday, May 26, in the morning.

The Canadian Furniture Show has a unique status in the North American market, since approximately 75% of its visitors do not go to High Point Market or the Las Vegas Market, and about 80% of its exhibitors don’t participate to these two shows. As a result, the Canadian event provides a major opportunity to discover new exhibitors and meet new visitors: a great source of networking.
