Malouf recently announced that it has added a new shift to create seven-day coverage and expedite shipping through their network of distribution centers in North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and California. The distribution centers will now run in two shifts, from Monday to Thursday and Friday to Monday. The shifts will overlap on Monday to process the high levels of orders received that day.

This shift has been established because COVID-19 precautions and increased demand have extended shipping times. This change will help get shipping back down to the signature Malouf same-day policy.

“The goal is to have more support on our busiest day and get our retail partners their orders sooner,” said Ryan Egbert, national distribution director. “This new shift allows us to take advantage of our shipping partners’ increased weekend availability. Then our team can alleviate the strain on our staff and accelerate delivery times.”

In addition to the new weekend shifts, Malouf has also built out a national distribution team to support their growing shipping and logistics network. The team includes

  • National Distribution Director, Ryan Egbert
  • National Distribution Manager for N.C. and Texas, Colby Hennessy
  • National Distribution Manager Ohio and Calif., Braden Brown
  • National Distribution HR Manager, Amanda Hennessy

These four individuals have developed extensive knowledge of the company’s distribution model, facilities, software, and employees. Egbert has been the primary driver of the distribution growth for 10 years. Colby Hennessy managed the N.C. warehouse for the three years, through several expansions, and Brown launched the Ohio distribution center, managing operations for the initial two years. Amanda Hennessy managed human resources in the N.C. distribution center for three years, and now oversees all distribution center human resource initiatives and location-specific administrators. These three are bringing their combined expertise back to the Logan headquarters to supplement the national team.

The national distribution team will oversee all operations and work with the Malouf sales team to meet and exceed the shipping expectations of their retail partners. Eric Holmstead, national sales manager, discussed the importance of having a comprehensive distribution plan.

“We’re lucky to have a such a knowledgeable and proactive team,” he said. “Since we’ve started shipping furniture and the scale of orders have increased, we’ve worked with the national distribution team to streamline our strategy. Seven-day coverage will make us even more efficient.”
