La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries Store In Allentown, PA Changes Ownership

The West furniture family in Allentown, Penn., has seen a lot of changes in 42 years, including the evolution of its small, recliner-only store into a large, successful La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries® destination. This year, owner Jeff West and his wife and business partner, Dayle, will say goodbye to the store built on years of hard work when they sell it to seasoned store owner Frank Hager, who is expanding his ownership of area La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores to five. “The support that the Wests have shown for the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries program is phenomenal,” said Greg White, vice president of sales and merchandising at La-Z-Boy. “Jeff, Dayle and Frank are examples of the dedication to success that La-Z-Boy treasures in its dealers and we are confident that, under Frank’s leadership, the Whitehall store will continue to thrive and maintain its tradition of providing excellent customer service.” When the small, 2,500-square-foot store opened in 1966 in Whitehall Mall, it was the first recliner-only store in the U.S. and featured one aisle with recliners on one side and boxes of inventory on the other. With the Wests’ hard work and dedication, as well as aggressive advertising and a “best-seller”-heavy inventory, it grew into an 18,500-square-foot “new generation” La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries store. “We thank Jeff and Dayle for their dedication to the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries program, and we congratulate Frank on expanding his leadership in the Furniture Galleries network,” said White.
