Chicago’s breathtaking skyline will again serve as the backdrop for the industry’s annual Midwest Dinner Cruise, to be held on the Mystic Blue on Monday, August 18, 2008. Last year, 300 industry members attended the cruise and raised nearly $200,000 for City of Hope, a leading biomedical research and treatment institution for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. This year’s cruise will honor the Darvin Family and is hosted by DMSI, Sea Products/Skyline Furniture and Darvin Furniture. “The Midwest Dinner Cruise is quickly becoming a must-attend event among industry members,” said Ted Wecker, Sea Products/Skyline Furniture, “It’s a memorable evening with impeccable views of Chicago, and a great opportunity to network with fellow industry members or treat employees and customers to a great evening. Most importantly, the event supports City of Hope’s efforts to rapidly move innovative science into treatments that benefit cancer patients everywhere. I’m so glad to be a part of this event.” Wecker added that commitments have already been made by aspenhome, Darvin Furniture, Furniture First, Leggett and Platt, Serta Mattress Company, Simmons Bedding Company and Thomasville. For more information about the cruise or for reservations, contact Michael Sandler at 800-272-2310 or at msandler@coh.org, or visit www.cityofhope.org/nhfi. The National Home Furnishings Industry chapter was created by a group of industry leaders who wanted to help in the search for a cure for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, and currently encompasses representatives from all facets of the industry including retail, manufacturing and publishing. To date, the group has raised more than $40 million for City of Hope.
