Ibolili, a pioneer in green and eco-friendly home furnishings, will be showcasing its products in two showrooms at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market. In addition, Ibolili will be moving into a new showroom in the International Home Furnishings Center for the October High Point Market. In Atlanta, Ibolili’s products will be on display at the Simblist Group showroom, located on the 16th floor of the AmericasMart, Suite 1621. In addition, Ibolili will be part of a green products showcase along with three other companies in the former Napp Deady showroom, Suite 1100. Ibolili enjoyed a long and successful relationship with Napp Deady, which ceased operations earlier this summer. “We are excited to join the Simblist Group, which is just a top-notch organization,” said Ibolili founder and president John Porter. “We want to invite our customers to see us in the new showroom, where we’ll have a full display of handmade products, which make use of recycled and reclaimed materials.” Because of Napp Deady’s departure from High Point, Ibolili also will be opening its own showroom at the IHFC in October. The location of that new showroom will be announced at a later date. In Atlanta, Ibolili is introducing collection of more than three dozen new home furnishings, accessories and statement art pieces, all of which are handcrafted by artisans in Indonesia. In addition, the company unveils Montes Doggett, Ibolili’s first foray into tabletop. Montes Doggett pays homage to the tradition of casual entertaining with a 69-piece collection of high-quality handmade ceramic tableware and serving pieces from Peru that are elegant in their simplicity. Montes Doggett has its roots in Mexico, where owner and designer Monica Porter grew up. Her mother, who frequently hosted formal dinners and had an eye for simple and elegant settings, would whisper in Monica’s ear: “You should be the one setting the table. You do it so tastefully and beautifully.” Those early words – combined with stories shared over a meal – ignited a passion in Monica for table settings, entertaining and food. Even the name Montes Doggett recalls memories of family and food. Montes and Doggett are the maiden names of Monica’s mother and mother-in-law. Both women shared a passion for the home and table, and both knew memories created over food would be cherished by the family for decades. Today, Montes Doggett continues the tradition of creating memories at the table by offering an exquisite collection of tabletop ceramics and pottery. Each handcrafted piece is chosen for its versatility, simplicity and functionality. The traditional shapes of the tabletop are interpreted in news ways, creating endless possibilities and combinations. Latin American artisans then fine-tune, transform and inspire the pieces without molds or assembly-line machinery. From start to finish, only the finest natural materials are used, and each piece undergoes rigorous processes to ensure unparalleled workmanship. Clay of the highest quality is selected from the Andes Mountains of Peru. The clay is ground, shaped and fired for durability and to make each piece lead-free and microwave-, dishwasher- and oven-safe. Ibolili and Montes Doggett believe in fair trade, respect indigenous artisans and celebrate the inherent beauty and craftsmanship of pottery and home furnishings made by loving hands. Every product in Ibolili’s line is handcrafted from natural, sustainable materials by artists in developing countries who love what they do and who are paid fairly and treated that way, too. Ibolili’s goal is simple – to leave no trace but beauty on our world and yours. As a founding member of the Sustainable Furniture Council, Ibolili is at the forefront of the green movement. Founded in 1999, Ibolili began making eco-friendly products long before they were trendy or in such high demand with consumers. During the last nine years, Ibolili has defined its niche within the home furnishings industry by offering stylishly designed, handcrafted, fair trade natural products with broad aesthetic appeal. Ibolili’s name comes from a Haitian Creole word that means “dream come true.” And Porter, while fulfilling his own entrepreneurial dreams, has helped fulfill the dreams of many indigenous artisans by providing them with an income and a market for their crafts. People who buy Ibolili furnishings for their homes are getting handmade, authentic goods at a fair price without paying a huge environmental cost.
