Mealey’s Furniture & Mattress, the family-run group of stores in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, known for “Same Day, Every Day” delivery service, announced that it has opened its newest and largest store, in Warminster, PA. Mealey’s is donating a portion of profits from every sale at all of its stores during July and August in support of the American Red Cross Lower Bucks County Chapter’s new Service to Military Families program. The Emerson family, of Churchville, PA, sought the Red Cross’ help because their son, 19-year-old Stephen Emerson, would soon be deployed to Iraq. With both his father Bob and sister Julie facing multiple surgeries for two different kids of cancers, Harriette Emerson needed her son’s support and assistance. The Service to Military Families program enabled Stephen to return home for a week to be with his family while they recovered, providing care and comfort for the entire family. Stephen returned to his base and returned home again last month to be with his dad as he faced yet another surgery. Although Bob and Julie are doing well, they continue to aggressively fight their cancers heroically. Additionally, Mealey’s is providing furnishings for the new Service to Military Families Center, which will open in a few weeks in Levittown, and Mealey’s customers coming to all four stores will have the opportunity later this summer to donate supplies for soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as to wounded warriors recovering at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington. “We believe strongly in being good neighbors in our communities,” said Kevin Mealey, one of the company’s co-owners, “and the Red Cross’ new ‘Neighbors Helping Neighbors’ program is an ideal match for our company’s values.” Over the past few years, Mealey’s has donated more than $500,000 to nearly 100 different non-profit organizations throughout the region. The new store, located at 908 W. Street Road in the CenterPoint Shopping Center at the intersection of Street and York Roads, features 84,000 square feet of furnishings, all on one level, making it more than 25 percent larger than any other Mealey’s store. It has taken nearly a year to design and construct. A brand-new “store within a store” concept offers a vast selection of mattresses within an all-white, spa-like setting, focusing on a segment which has been growing by more than 25 percent per year, according to Kevin Mealey. “Comfort and health are very important to consumers,” said Mealey, “and our new mattress ‘store within a store’ is designed to make shopping and buying this important item as convenient as possible.” This new store has its own dedicated entrance and customer service center. In addition to the mattress “store within a store,” the new Warminster Mealey’s will offer another “store within a store” for youth furniture, as well as separate areas for leather furniture, home office furniture, recliners, casual and formal rooms, and dining furniture, plus a special “Marketplace” featuring eclectic one-of-a-kind imported accents. Compared to Mealey’s other stores and to most furniture stores, the selection will be nearly doubled in capacity and options. As with other family-friendly stores from this family company, the new Warminster store will feature a café and area for children with snacks, video games and other electronic entertainment. The new store is part of Mealey’s planned expansion within the Delaware Valley region, and will add approximately 50-60 new jobs. It will also house Mealey’s Furniture’s corporate offices. In addition to the new Warminster store, current Mealey’s locations are in Oxford Valley and Bensalem PA, and in Moorestown, NJ.
