Shoppers at Arhaus Furniture stores will think Christmas has come early this year. The upscale lifestyle retailer based in Cleveland will introduce its new line of dog items on November 1, just in time for the holiday season. Not only will shoppers be able to find the perfect gifts for everyone on their shopping list, they'll be able to pick up something for their four-legged friends, as well. The decision to design and stock dog items was an easy one says Gary Babcock, vice president of merchandise and design. "So many pet owners view their dogs as members of the family,” says Babcock. "We wanted our customers to be able to find items for these extended family members that are of the same quality and style they've come to expect from Arhaus.” According to a survey conducted by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, eight out of ten dog owners and 63 percent of cat owners buy gifts for their pet. Those pet owners won't be disappointed by the retailer's first offerings: ceramic dog bowls, exquisite beds with cushions, door mats, coat hooks and a luxury dog book. Babcock says he hopes to expand on the line of dog products if all goes well sometime down the road. A Bed Fit for Fido: Humans aren't the only ones that like to curl up in a soft bed on a cold winter's night. Arhaus' dog bed comes in three different sizes – small, medium and large – and consists of a curled, wrought-iron frame and fluffy cushion. Sure to fit into any holiday décor, the cream base boasts red stripes on the sides and a red fleur-de-lis pattern on the top and bottom. Prices range from $89 for small beds to $149 for a large. Served Up with Style: Every dog has to eat, so why not serve up dinner in style with a stylish ceramic dog dish? "We wanted to keep this look simple yet chic at the same time,” states Babcock. "So we added some lines to the bottom to give the bowls texture and finished it off with a simple, yet obvious, moniker.” Like the beds, the cream bowls come in three different sizes and range in price from $9 – $29. Made for Dogs, Loved by Humans: "The collection wouldn't have been complete without a doggie doormat that lets everyone know who's really king of the castle,” says Babcock. The adorable scene on the doormat features "Smokey,” his doghouse and a note announcing, "Dog on Duty.” The mat features muted browns and reds and is available for $19. Another piece available that can be used in a doorway or displayed outside with the doormat is a charming coat hook. "Most pet owners are looking for stylish, functional items that they're not embarrassed to display in their homes,” adds Babcock. The coat hook features two canine friends above wrought-iron hooks where owners can hang a leash and collar – the base can also function as a place for the morning paper. Shoppers can pick up this versatile item for $15. Finishing out the line is a book titled "Luxury for Dogs” that makes the perfect gift for any animal lover, priced at $50.
