Las Vegas Design Center at World Market Center, a resource in Las Vegas for the interior design community, will welcome Charlie Popeck, president of Green Ideas Environmental Building Consultants, on Friday, November 2, 2007. Popeck will highlight “LEED® for Homes: The Importance of Building (or Remodeling) Green.” A not-to-be missed shopping day for local and out-of-market design professionals, “First Friday” at Las Vegas Design Center features educational opportunities, unique showroom specials, hospitality and other exclusive offerings for the trade. Popeck’s presentation will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the World View on the 16th Floor of World Market Center’s Building B, 495 South Grand Central Parkway in Las Vegas. Popeck, who is one of the first people to be accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council as a LEED® Professional, said he will cover the importance of green building, the benefits of building green and different categories of LEED® for homes. According to Popeck, there are many misperceptions of green building, including myths regarding expense and difficulties in the process. In addition to providing an overview of the green building industry, he will also present a variety of case studies showing a variety of completed projects along with a preview of Echelon Place in Las Vegas. He also plans to give attendees an overview of how they can get themselves LEED® accredited. The December First Friday program, on December 7, 2007, is lifestyle philosopher Alexandra Stoddard.
