The SCFMA announced that the Zephyr Lounge Chair by Brown Jordan received the Lillian B. Winchester Best of Show award in this year’s Design Excellence competition at the 2007 International Casual Furniture and Accessories Market. The Design Excellence Awards recognize innovation and creative product design. The awards are co-sponsored by the Summer & Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association and Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. The Zephyr Lounge Chair also took first place in the Rattan/ Wicker/ Woven Materials Category, one of nine categories judged in the 2007design competition. Best of Show was selected from among the category winners. The other category winners were: - Cast Metal: Extendable Cast Table by Pride Family Brands. - Tubular Materials: South Beach Cushioned Lounge Chair by Agio International. - Complementary Casual Products: Leeds Castle Large Planter Box by Laneventure Furniture. - Outdoor Lighting: Oriental Garden Floor Lamp by Woodard/Kichler. - Resin/Fiberglass: The Terrace Collection 60-inch Round Dining Table by Laneventure Furniture. - Shade Products: Primo Sing 2 U by Wanda Technology Inc. - Wood Furniture: Pinoi Double Lazy Susan Table by ScanCom North America. - Wrought Iron/Wrought Aluminum: Landhaus Club Chair by Kettler International Inc. SCFMA HONORS 2007 APOLLO AWARD WINNERS The Summer & Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association also announced winners of the prestigious Apollo Award for retail excellence. First, second and third place winners were named in two categories. In the single store category, first place was awarded to Dodds & Eder of Oyster Bay, N.Y. Sunnyland Furniture, Dallas, received second place, while Fruehauf’s Patio & Garden, based in Boulder, Colo., received third place. In the multi-store category, first place was awarded to Patios Plus of Rancho Mirage, Calif. Second place went to Patio & Hearth Shoppes of Centerville, Ohio, and third place was awarded to Robb & Stucky Patio of Fort Myers, Fla. The Apollo Awards were presented on September 20 during the 2007 International Casual Furniture and Accessories Market in Chicago. The awards are co-sponsored by Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. The Summer & Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association is headquartered in High Point, N.C., and represents more than 100 leading manufacturers and importers of summer and casual products. It is a division of the American Home Furnishings Alliance.
