A.R.T. Furniture, Inc. announced that it will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, October 1 at 4pm celebrating the opening of its new 40,000 square foot showroom on the second floor of Plaza Suites on Main Street in High Point. The company will also be introducing three new collections at the fall Market - Americana with early American design influences, Fenwick Court, featuring a casual European style, and Wilshire, conveying a sleek transitional look. According to CEO Ed Grund, the initial reaction of retailers previewing the showroom during Premarket was a resounding “Wow!” “Our objective was to create a dramatic entrance to the showroom that defines the vision of a forward-thinking furniture supplier,” he said. “Our reception area, with highly textural materials like faux concrete panels, brick accent walls, and sophisticated metals and frosted glass, with contrasting dark wood tones, blends a historical influence with a fashion-forward outlook, setting the expectations for the rest of the showroom. The furniture is the foremost visual in our new showroom, with subtle tones, neutral carpeting and strategic lighting allowing the eye to focus directly on the furniture.” He added that the great care went into enlarging the café area to make it a relaxing, comfortable place for visitors to enjoy a daily catered lunch or cocktail. The new space also includes restrooms and a smoking lounge. A.R.T.’s free limo service will continue to provide transportation for all visitors. “A.R.T. has experienced aggressive growth over the past few years, and we were glad to be able to accommodate their need for additional showroom space,” said Tom Mitchell, senior vice president and general manager for Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. “We are thrilled with their commitment to expand their presence at the High Point Market.” Bill Sibbick, newly named Vice President of Sales, looks forward to introducing customers to the new expanded showroom. “This level of investment reflects the company’s aggressive growth strategy. I’m excited about being a part of a team that has experienced the kind of success it has in its short four year history,” he added. John Iasiello, Vice President of Product Development, said the three new groups which feature bedroom, dining, occasional and home theatre pieces were designed to extend the spectrum of styles offered by the company. “The new collections bring our total to nineteen. Our Americana collection is evocative of our very first collection, American Sampler, which continues to be a strong seller. As a response to retailer feedback, we’ve added new veneer treatments, and new storage and use options to provide an alternative choice in this highly popular style. The new collections include Wilshire, constructed from radiatta solids, with primavera veneers dramatically presented in larger pieces in a dramatic sunburst pattern, with a transitional urban appeal. Fenwick Court is inspired by casual European styling and features quarter cut walnut veneers and radiatta solids. Projected scroll and dentil molding adorns the generously sized pieces, while the machine-rubbed finish gives depth and high luster. Americana, constructed from radiatta solids, with chestnut burl veneers, is inspired by the unique American styles created within the Chesapeake, Back and Low country areas of Colonial America from the early to mid 1700's.
