HOM Furniture Selected as Partner for Hit TV Show
Furniture World Magazine
Twin Cities based HOM Furniture has been selected for a supporting role in the hit TV series Extreme Makeover Home Edition. The popular series, watched by nearly 20 million viewers each week, chose the Top 100 retailer to furnish Ty's Special Room, the bedrooms of the seven children, plus contribute rugs and decor accessories throughout the makeover home in Minnetonka, a Minneapolis suburb.
Also, HOM personnel worked with the show's designers to source many of their needs including shipping special furniture from Canada & Chicago, and locating unique fabrics and custom graphics from HOM suppliers.
"We are really gratified to be part of this remarkable project right here in our home market," said Wayne Johansen, Chairman of HOM Furniture. "Our partnership with the TV show is right in step with our support of family and youth programs like Minnesota Teen Challenge and many others. So, we never hesitated to jump in with both feet.!"
About HOM: HOM has been a family-owned business for over 30 years, with founders and owners Wayne Johansen, Rodney Johansen and Carl Nyberg. HOM has evolved into the full-line furniture retailer that it is today, having opened the first complete HOM Furniture showroom in Coon Rapids, Minnesota in 1997. HOM has showrooms in Fargo, North Dakota, Sioux City, Iowa; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Hermantown, Minnesota; Eau Claire Wisconsin; and six locations in Minneapolis/St. Paul.
The company employees over 900 individuals overall and has been one of the fastest growing furniture retailers in the United States with growth of 500 percent over the past seven years (from $30 million in revenues in 1996 to approximately $200 million) and currently ranks in the top 50 largest nationally.
