Officials at World Market Center announced that at the Summer 2007 Las Vegas Market, exhibition at the Sands Expo will have a progressive, segmented format featuring 700 trend-setting exhibitors spanning more than a half million square feet. For the first time, the temporary exhibits of Las Vegas Market will be located at the Sands Expo, which is adjacent to and adjoining the Venetian Hotel and minutes from the permanent showrooms at World Market Center. The eight distinctly branded show sections are: Furniture; Design & Living, featuring Living Green, an area for sustainable furniture; Home Collection; Light; Sleep; Vegas Accessory & Gift; Interior Lifestyle and Resource. The environment at the Sands Expo is tailored for the convenience of buyers and to maximize efficiency, according to Michelle Monteferrante, director of trade show operations for World Market Center. “We have worked closely with buyers to understand how they shop and how we can design our Market to best fit their needs,” said Monteferrante. “Grouping our exhibitors into meaningful segments allows them to be readily discovered by the relevant buyer. At the same tine, we want to ensure the show floor design fosters cross-sales opportunities across the categories.” The Design & Living area, the only juried exhibition located at the Sands, offers an exclusive collection of companies featuring all styles of furniture, from contemporary to classical, as well as high-design home décor, art and lighting products. The showcase will present what is new and fresh from around the world, including exhibitors from Japan, Italy, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Peru, Canada, USA, and Brazil. Award-winning U.S. companies in Design & Living will focus mainly on contemporary or urban design and include Blu Dot, John Kelly Furniture, Southcone, Weintraub Studios and Jiti. Living Green is a specialty focus of the Design & Living exhibit and centers on sustainable furnishings, or furniture using wood, cushioning, fabrics and finishing materials that can be renewed through natural processes over the long-term. Sustainable furniture is a fast-growing trend in the furniture industry among buyers and designers. In addition to a huge representation of exhibits, inspiration and new product, the Sands will also play host several educational and social events planned for Market, including a seminar about the latest in market trends and a strategy discussion about consumer demand for environmentally conscious practices. For the convenience of buyers, the Sands will house a satellite, 4,000-square-foot Retail Resource Center in addition to the Western Home Furnishings Association’s 6,500-square-foot Retail Resource Center on the 16th floor of World Market Center’s building B. On Tuesday evening, attendees can enjoy a grand opening celebration for the temporary exhibits, starting at 5 p.m. The “Viva la Venetian Festival” will transform The Sands venue into the sights and sounds of Venice complete with music, costumed performers and Italian cuisine. On Wednesday, August 1, all attendees visiting The Sands will receive a box lunch, compliments of World Market Center.
