Four Hands To Introduce Eco-Chic Collections In High Point

Austin, TX-based furniture company Four Hands is rolling out more eco-friendly products for the March High Point market, expanding on efforts initiated last year. Four Hands will be introducing three new collections and a slew of line extensions using “green” materials. Dakota is an occasional table line made of reclaimed Teak with slate inlay. Penn is a traditional, turned leg table series made of plantation-grown Mango, as is the Lewis collection of simple shelving units. Among many others, there will also be a number of additions to their cast aluminum collections such as Miami, a line of accent tables and accessories that use up to 70% recycled material. Fully 40% of Four Hands tables and case goods are currently eco-friendly, using reclaimed materials and plantation-grown woods. The company is also aggressively looking at the balance of its product line to determine which may be candidates for conversion to safer choices, and expects to convert several by the end of the year. Four Hands was ahead of the curve in launching a Green Tag program, providing hang tags to their retailers that describe their Eco Chic products to consumers. The company is also a founding board member of the sustainable Furniture Council an organization of manufacturers, importers, and retailers formed to promote sustainable business practices. “It’s time,” says founder/CEO Brett Hatton, “Everyone knows it’s the right thing to do, but it takes pre-emptive action for causes to reach their tipping point. We all need to do our part.”
