Leda Furniture, known for their quality medium to high end residential and hotel contract furniture, has entered the office contract market. “This was a natural next step to diversify and grow Leda Furniture,” states President Marco L. Confalone. He continues, “we have spent the past 18 months researching the industry and developing new fashion-forward designs for the medium to high end sector.” To oversea the Leda Office Contract division, they have hired Bill Sherhols as their VP of Sales & Marketing for Office Contract. Both Sherhols and Leda’s Director of Operations, Winston King, have years of experience working in the contract market. Together they bring in a wealth of knowledge, not only about the industry, but also as to what is needed to be successful. Leda unveiled three office collections at the recent IIDEX/Neocon show in Toronto. It was Leda’s first contract trade show and the industry’s first chance to see Leda’s product offering. Concurrent with these three collections, Leda is developing two other product lines. “Overall reaction was very positive our introductions,” states Confalone, “We received very positive reaction to our ‘eco-friendly’ veneers, which are grown on plantations in Italy.” Bill Sherhols states “Leda will bring to market innovative product lines with design attributes that are unique to Leda. We have received excellent design input from American and Italian Design firms and we feel we have very strong design statements that are transitional to contemporary in orientation. Product lines will be positioned at the mid to upper end. Geographically, we are looking to start with the US East Coast and Eastern Canada as a Target Market.“ To support the added anticipated volume Leda is building their infrastructure by adding a flat line finishing operation. They have already added an 18,000 sq. ft. addition earlier this year and the design of the technologically advanced flat line system is already underway, with planned installation to be in 2007. Leda’s entire contract line will be domestically produced. Leda Office Contract will be separate from their residential line to give it it’s own identity ie - catalogues and sales materials, sales and sales management team, etc. The website will remain www.ledafurniture.com, with links for either residential or contract. Naturally information will always be shared between office and residential in keeping with working together. “We are very excited about this new venture and are confident that we can offer the office community designs and service they are craving,” adds Confalone.
