The Bob’s Discount Furniture & Gene Rosenberg Associates’ 19th Annual Charitable Golf Outing raised over $500,000 in contributions this year for nonprofit groups that help children throughout the region. Held this past Tuesday at the Tunxis Plantation Country Club, the golf outing attracted 235 golfers, 300 dinner attendees and was emceed by WFSB-TV personality Scot Haney. “I am so ecstatic over the response from our event this year. The bottom line is the more we raise the more we can give out! We surpassed last year’s fundraising goal by $200,000 and possibly need to consider a new venue for next year because of the huge turnout,” explained Bob Kaufman, president, Bob’s Discount Furniture. “Part of our business plan has always included activities and support for charitable groups in our area. I’m very thankful for all of the work these nonprofit groups are doing on a daily basis and very happy to support them in their efforts through our annual golf fundraiser”. Some of the recipient organizations benefiting from this year’s successful outing are the American Cancer Society’s Camp Rising Sun, Nutmeg Chapter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Family and Children’s Aid, Jimmy Fund and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Established in 1986, the Bob’s Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation primarily assists organization’s helping children and their families. “Our foundation has helped hundreds of groups throughout the United States and we look to continue and strengthen our support this coming year. We want to help as many youth-related charities as possible. With the extra money raised, our dreams of doing so can now happen!” said Cathy Poulin, director of public relations and TV personality, Bob’s Discount Furniture.
