Bob's Discount Furniture, the fast-growing New England furniture retailer with 22 stores located throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey and New Hampshire, announced the details of the "Celebrate The Arts Contest", which will provide a full year’s worth of cultural arts programming for a winning school in each of the five states with Bob's Discount Furniture locations. "Increasingly every year, we are finding the fine arts programs and cultural arts events being the first target for budget cuts in many school districts. In fact, in some cities and town these programs are almost non-existent. Bob’s Discount Furniture wants to help these ailing arts and culture programs while trying to raise the awareness about its importance in the school’s annual curriculum," said Cathy Poulin, pubic relations director and television personality, Bob’s Discount Furniture. "I would like to invite all parents, teachers, administrators and concerned citizens to register a school to win the year-long arts and culture programming award. We want to put the arts back into the schools." Bob’s Discount Furniture will sponsor one winning elementary or middle school in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and New Jersey with a full school year of cultural arts assemblies. Elementary and middle school teachers, administrators, parents, community leaders and concerned citizens are encouraged to register their school to win the cultural arts award. One school from each state will be selected randomly based upon certain criteria offered in the online questionnaire. All appropriate assemblies along with dates and times will be selected by the winning school and Bob’s Discount Furniture. Previous winning schools of the arts program were Saints Peter and Paul School, Waterbury, CT and Wm P Connery, Lynn, MA. Running from August 1 to 18, 2006, the "Celebrate The Arts Contest" will accept submissions online at www.mybobs.com/celebrate_arts. Entries postmarked before August 15th can also be mailed to Bob’s Discount Furniture, Celebrate The Arts, 428 Tolland Turnpike, Manchester, CT, 06040. The five winning schools will be announced on August 22, 2006.
