The International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA), a professional alliance of leaders representing the diverse industries that constitute residential and commercial furnishings and design, has voted unanimously to bestow Honorary Lifetime Membership status on all the outstanding figures who have been recipients of the organization’s Trailblazer award. Since 1966, this commendation has been presented by IFDA to persons who have made significant contributions to the furnishings and design industry. The Trailblazer honoree is creative and innovative and has consistently demonstrated leadership qualities within his or her field and within the design industry. This award has honored such diverse personalities as former first lady Lady Bird Johnson, designers Raymond Waites, Charles Gandy and Barbara D’Arcy, architect Denise Scott Brown, designer-architects Michael Graves and Philippe Starck, developer Tramell Crow, textile designer Jack Lenor Larsen, author-critic Ada Louise Huxtable, magazine editor Paige Rense and publishers Lester Dundes and Grace McNamara. A complete list of IFDA’s past Trailblazer winners is available at www.ifda.com. “The IFDA is pleased to announce Honorary Lifetime Memberships for those achievers in the industry who have our utmost respect for the contributions they have put forth,” said IFDA President, Mark Jeross. “The members of IFDA are proud to have these Trailblazers join our organization for life.” Founded in 1947, IFDA is structured to provide a professional forum for communication and interaction among its high-profile members, promote career advancement and educational opportunities, and increase public awareness of the furnishings and design industry through specialized programming and service to the community. About IFDA: The International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA), founded in 1947, is the industry’s only umbrella organization. Its members, in 15 chapters countrywide, represent all aspects of the furnishings and design industry, plus such significant adjuncts as licensing, education, editorial, advertising, marketing, public relations and showroom management.
