Webbs Furniture of Hildenborough Kent, UK, announced the purchase of Lorna Dewey Ltd., from retiring owners Lorna and Colin Meier. The company will now be known as Lorna Dewey Furniture Ltd. In a transaction designed to strengthen and grow the Lorna Dewey brand name, Lorna Meier (the former Lorna Dewey) and husband Colin Meier, who were planning to retire in several years, were approached by Webbs Furniture, one of their specialty makers who wanted to grow their business and were extremely fond of the Lorna Dewey line. The New Owners Webbs Furniture, owned and operated by Terry Facey and his two sons Tom and Emile are excited about this new venture. “We have been in business since 1975 in the UK and along with Lorna Dewey Ltd. have been providing fine furniture in the UK for decades” said Terry. He added, “Lorna Dewey established a foothold in the US in 2000, and this allows us to expand the combined lines and creates a stronger supply of fine handmade antique reproductions to our customers.” Tom Facey added “The Lorna Dewey brand is well established in the United States, it has a very loyal customer base. This tried and true range of Georgian and Regency reproductions will benefit from the new lines that we are introducing to the American market.” Webbs is one of a handful of artisan companies that have perfected the 17th century art of fully handcraft oyster veneer.
