Globe Express Services (GES) is expanding its Asia to U.S. less than container load (LCL) program to include more service options along high potential trade lanes. As a 3PL with extensive Far East freight consolidation experience and a mature network of container freight stations (CFS) both overseas and in the U.S., the company is very well positioned to penetrate the LCL market and deliver to clients a value oriented solution. Ziad Korban, Globe’s Hong Kong based Chairman and CEO, describes this new service as being “a strategic shift for the company. GES has been operating LCL service for many years along niche trade lanes required by our customers. This has largely been an additional service meant to complement our primary import businesses of multi-vendor consolidation, freight forwarding, NVOCC/OTI and customs brokerage. Now we are moving wholeheartedly into the robust LCL market segment, with the intention of capturing a significant market share and providing some very interesting shipping options.” Because of its emphasis on all water routing, Globe Express feels their new service is uniquely differentiated. Tony Bikhazi, Globe’s Executive Vice President based in Charlotte, NC explains, “LCL service to east coast destinations is often served via mini-land bridge (MLB) routings and thus subject to west coast port variability and potential peak season rail congestion. We feel there is an excellent opportunity among shippers that are seeking more consistent LCL transit times along with the other value points that all water shipping affords.” This service will leverage Globe’s longstanding strength as a top NVOCC/OTI all water provider along Asia to U.S. trade lanes. Globe Express Services will operate regular LCL service originating at the following FOB points: Hong Kong; Yantian, China; Ningbo, China;l Shanghai, China. Service will be provided from all origins above to reputable CFS warehouses in the following cities: Charlotte, NC; Miami, FL; Atlanta, GA; Columbus, OH. Containers will be routed via all water ocean carriers, with the exception of Columbus, OH which will ship MLB. Final forwarding to door destinations and customs brokerage are available as additional services or clients are welcome to make such arrangements themselves. This program is set to commence November 14, 2005 and will be marketed to both U.S. consignees buying on FOB terms and Asian shippers selling on a CIF basis.
