Designer Liora Manne Honored At FIT Dinner

Designer Liora Manne was honored Thursday night at the 2005 STAR SALUTE dinner sponsored by the Fashion Institute of Technology Alumni Association at a gala event held at the Rainbow Room. The annual event honors former students and distinguished industry leaders. Proceeds from the Star Salute Dinner benefit the Educational Development Fund, which provides scholarships and housing stipends for economically disadvantaged FIT students. Renowned designer Todd Oldham, who presented Manne her award, said she was "truly a star, who brings ingenuity and integrity to home and fashion accessories." Manne advised FIT students to "hold on to your dreams, move forward and create your own bulldozer to move ahead." Manne was honored because of her innovative patented design and manufacturing processes, and the creative energy and inspiration she brings to the design and textile industries.
