IKEA Celebrates 20th Birthday IN USA

IKEA, the world’s largest home furnishings store, has invited the community to celebrate its 20th birthday in the U.S. with several surprises, activities and donations to benefit co-workers, customers and local and national charity partners. All 22 IKEA U.S. stores* will hold their birthday festivities from Friday, October 28 through Sunday, October 30, 2005. The celebration will kick off with an unveiling of the world’s largest ever birthday cake at 7:00 a.m. (CST) at IKEA Schaumburg, IL. Following the unveiling, Pernille Spiers-Lopez, President of IKEA U.S., will recognize the Honorable Mayor Al Larson and senior executives of IKEA’s national community partners: UNICEF, Save the Children and American Forests. The three day celebration, which is IKEA’s expression of appreciation to all who have helped make IKEA a tremendous success in the U.S., will feature a variety of day-long events for children, adults, families, devoted fans, and anyone who wishes to experience the IKEA Effect first-hand. * Excludes IKEA Seattle, IKEA Houston and IKEA San Diego.
