Butcher Named Vice President Of La-Z-Boy Tennessee Plant

La-Z-Boy Residential recently appointed Don Butcher to vice president of La-Z-Boy Tennessee. In his new position, Butcher is responsible for overseeing plant operations. “Since joining La-Z-Boy, Don has proven his ability to develop high-performance teams and design and implement lean manufacturing systems,” said Don Mather, vice president of manufacturing for La-Z-Boy. “We are confident that Don’s background and experience will help us implement lean manufacturing in our largest residential facility.” Butcher has held a variety of management positions since joining La-Z-Boy Arkansas in July 2000, including process improvement manager and production manager. He most recently served as the general manager of La-Z-Boy Arkansas. “I’m proud to be a part of a company with such a great reputation in furniture quality, durability and innovation,” said Butcher. “I understand the importance manufacturing has on this reputation and I look forward to lending my experience to the La-Z-Boy team.” Prior to joining La-Z-Boy, Butcher was the officer- in- charge in various positions of increasing responsibility related to aircraft maintenance quality and training for the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he gained additional experience in management and training at FM Corporation and Northwest Arkansas Workforce Development Institute. Butcher has a Bachelor of Science in management and a master’s degree in human relations and organizational behavior. He is a board member for the Northwest Arkansas American Society for Quality (ASQ), and is certified through the organization as both a Nationally Certified Quality Manager and a Nationally Certified Quality Auditor. Butcher also serves as vice chair of the Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife, Mary Jane, will relocate to the Dayton, Tenn., area this summer.
