Haverty Furniture Promotes DeNiro, Curran and Wilkerson

Haverty Furniture Co., announced the promotions of M. Tony Wilkerson, Thomas P. Curran and Allan J. DeNiro. M. Tony Wilkerson was promoted to executive vice president, merchandising. He has served as senior vice president, marketing since 1994 and was a director of Havertys from 1999 to May 2003. He has responsibility for the development and execution of Havertys' entire merchandising strategies. Mr. Wilkerson has over 28 years of experience with Havertys. Thomas P. Curran was promoted to senior vice president, marketing from vice president, advertising. His responsibilities include all aspects of marketing, including advertising, brand development and consumer research. He will continue to report to Tony Wilkerson. Mr. Curran has over 22 years of experience with Havertys. Allan J. DeNiro was promoted to chief people officer. Mr. DeNiro joined the Company in 2004 as vice president, human resources. He has over 25 years of experience in all areas of human capital development including strategy and organizational design, recruiting, training, labor relations and mentorship. Clarence H. Smith, president and chief executive officer said, "We are pleased to promote these experienced, dedicated professionals to serve in key positions in the merchandising, advertising and employee relation areas of our business, functions critical to Havertys' success." Haverty's Board of Directors also declared a cash dividend to be paid on the two classes of $1 par value common stock of the Company, payable Wednesday,June 15, 2005, to stockholders of record at the close of business on Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at a rate of $0.0625 per share on the outstanding shares of Common Stock (Cusip #419596101) and $0.0575 per share on the outstanding shares of Class A Common Stock (Cusip #419596200). Haverty Furniture Companies, Inc. has paid a quarterly cash dividend since 1935 and has increased the cash dividend paid to stockholders in each of the past 30 years.
