Classic Chesterfield USA, the high-end Australian leather upholstery company, just completed the successful introduction of its line at the April 2005 High Point Home Furnishings Market. High end retailers and showrooms have signed-on with Classic Chesterfield USA. North American expansion is underway in the retail, wholesale and contract divisions. This also marked Sam and Maryanne’s first trip to the United States. Sam said, “This being the first time to the largest to-the-trade show in the world was an amazing experience. We have been to the Milan fair and the Singapore exhibition many times, but nothing can prepare you for the variety and diversity of this show.” The principles of Classic Chesterfield Manufacturing and the US operation came away with many new ideas for the High Point fall market in 2005. Maryanne said, “We have seen many designs considered new in the US market that we had introduced in Australia several years ago, so we will be bringing some of our original designs to the US market with some exciting designs design created just for the USA.” In addition, the company’s contract and custom work was met with high approval. Steve Gold, Operations Manager of the US division said, “As a result of the exhibition, we found interest, and the company is developing a program for an exclusive catalog company which will be announced once we have finalized our agreement.” Gold continued, “As expected, the talk at market was the enthusiasm for the look of our comfortable Ormond special, the signature round Chesterfield system, one of our identifying pieces.” An Australian themed reception was held during the introduction and authentic Australian food and wine was flown in for the event. The Australian trade commission graciously provided a spectacular selection of Australian wines for the event.
