Casual Furniture Retailer, Georgia Backyard, Inc., Hosts Event With Frances Mayes

On April 9, 2005, award winning Georgia Backyard, Inc., parent of Georgia Backyard and American Backyard, a casual furnishings superstore, welcomed Frances Mayes, best selling author of Under the Tuscan Sun, Bella Tuscany, and Bringing Tuscany Home, and her husband, poet Ed Mayes, to an evening “Under the Tuscan Sun” at the Georgia Backyard store located in Alpharetta, Georgia.
In addition to being a celebrated best selling author, Frances Mayes is also a furniture designer, and introduced her new “At Home in Tuscany Collection” of outdoor furniture and accessories produced by Laneventure.
“Tuscany is more than a place – it is a state of mind,” described Mayes. “We try to capture this perspective in the design of the Collection, blending classic with modern, refined with rustic, art with function.”
Over 150 people attended the evening, which also featured a sampling of “Under the Tuscan Sun” olive oil produced by the Mayes at their Tuscan villa, Bramasole near Cortona.
“Not only are Frances and Ed Mayes accomplished authors, educators, and business people, they are, above all, genuinely good people,” stated Dean D. Luckino, President and CEO of Georgia Backyard, Inc.
