The grand opening of Scott Director's The Custom Furniture Company was held on July 12, according to company president Scott Director. The new high-quality furniture store, located at 9340 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, just west of Jesuit High School, is familiar territory for Director, who spent 19 years working as merchandise manager at his family's store, Director's Furniture, until it closed in 1996 after 85 years in business. "Director's is a well-known and respected name in Oregon," Director said. "Our approach will be focused on custom furniture, but will have the same emphasis on quality and customer service." He will co-manage and work at the store himself with his partner and wife, Carol. The Custom Furniture Company will offer a large selection of high-quality furniture that can be customized to the buyer's specifications. "Our customer will basically have the ability to design a piece to suit his or her individual style whatever that may be," Director said. "We'll have more than 1,000 different fabrics and colors, with 42 sofa and chair styles in our showroom." Hundreds of additional styles will be available through catalog-order.
