IFDA Publishes Golden Anniversary Directory Featuring Original Design By Raymond Waites

The International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) has published its 1997 Golden Anniversary Directory of its membership which features on its cover an original design by Raymond Waites, created to commemorate the organization's 50th anniversary. The 200-page directory, the group's most comprehensive to date, includes a history of the association, histories of each of its 16 chapters, and a photographic portfolio of leaders and events through the years. The fully-sponsored publication also includes membership listings by name, by industry and by firm. This year's directory is really a keepsake publication honoring the association's founders and recognizing its leaders through the years, according to IFDA President Sharon Clancy Lienau, FIFDA. "Fifty years ago a group of professional women in the curtain and drapery industry in New York City decided that it would be a good idea to form an association of colleagues to share information and ideas," said Clancy Lienau. "Thanks to their foresight and dedication, IFDA is today an international organization that represents professionals in all facets of the home furnishings industry." The organization approached well known home furnishings designer Waites, the president and CEO of Raymond Waites Design, Inc., to create an original design for a commemorative silk scarf, which will be available to both members and the general public. Waites, a 1995 IFDA Trailblazer Award winner and a member of the New York Chapter, jumped at the opportunity, said Clancy Lienau.
