The tournament, a sellout for the third year in a row, continues its prosperity. This year's successful tournament attracted 164 golfers who competed for wonderful prizes including a new Ford Explorer and (another for $20,000 cash) for a lucky player who may have made a hole-in-one. Tee prizes, including CFMA golf shirts and many other accessories, were given to all the contestants. Net and Gross Trophies were awarded in each of the 4 flights and winners of the longest drives and "closest to the pins" received special awards. Raffle prizes were drawn throughout the evening program and trips to Golf Resorts at PGA West and La Costa Resort 8 Spa were auctioned to the highest bidder. Master of Ceremonies of the CFMA 1998 President's Day Golf Tournament was former Los Angeles Dodger great, Tommy Davis. Larry Parnell, CFMA Tournament Chairman commented, "This was another fantastic day for everyone. Sponsorship was well above last year and it's evident that this event has become very popular." During the evening program, golfers and their friends gathered for dinner, the raffle and live auction. "Last year's tournament had some rain, but was a success," Parnell said. "This year we escaped "El Nino" and had a great tournament."
