AFMA Names Perdue Director of Environmental And Technical Services

The American Furniture Manufacturers Association has named Bill Perdue director of environmental and technical services. He assumes the environmental and technical responsibilities previously held by Andy Counts, who becomes Executive Vice President in January following the retirement of Douglas Brackett. Perdue had been director of environmental, safety and health at Pulaski Furniture in Pulaski, Va., for the past I I years. He comes to AFMA with 16 years of environmentalrelated experience, all within the home furnishings industry. He has been responsible for regulatory compliance oversight with duties that included air permitting, emission audits, emission calculations, pollution prevention, waste minimization, energy resources and real estate transactions. At AFMA, Perdue addresses environmental and product safety issues impacting the furniture industry, including those related to American Standards and Testing Methods (ASTM), Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and flammability.
