The Berne Furniture Company, a manufacturer of high quality upholstered furniture for over 77 years, will have show rooms at the IHFC building in High Point, NC for the first time. Berne Furniture is located in the Swiss-Amish community of Berne, Indiana, which was settled in 1870 by Swiss from the Bern canton. An Amish community sprang up around the town of Berne soon after. Berne has maintained itís standards of high quality by building their furniture with the time-honored traditions of Swiss craftsmanship. In a changing economic environment where other manufacturers cut quality to increase profitability, Berne Furniture has maintained the same high quality standards as set down by its original Swiss furniture designer and builder, Mr. Clovis Oberli, in 1925. The kiln-dried maple frames are pre-bored, double-doweled, and the base is constructed using 8-way hand-tied coiled springs. Each piece of Berne furniture produced is hand-crafted and the fabrics are individually cut and hand-tailored for careful alignment. There are over 500 style profiles at Berne and they will also do custom-sizing with their standard lines to make that one of a kind piece of furniture. Over 1,300 luxurious fabrics and rich leathers are available at Berne Furniture. This, combined with Berneís many styles, makes an almost infinite range of possibilities for the consumer. Berne furniture is involved with a special environmental program. For every piece of furniture that the company manufactures, they have a tree planted. They have worked with this program for many years and it has been very successful. At this October market in High Point, Berne Furniture will be introducing their new Cheryl Collection, which exemplifies classical, refined comfort.
