The American Society of Interior Designers – Illinois Chapter (ASID-IL) announced that it is accepting entries for the 2011 Design Excellence Awards, an annual competition open to ASID-IL members, International Interior Design Association Illinois members (IIDA-IL) and registered interior designers in the State of Illinois. Presented by ASID-IL and publishing partner i4design magazine, the deadline to submit entries for the eighth annual Design Excellence Awards is Friday, June 24, 2011.

“This competition consistently showcases some of the best projects from Illinois designers. Whether on a small or large scale, the submissions demonstrate the critical skills, knowledge, vision, solutions to problems and creativity that an interior designer must have in order to make a project successful,” said Michelle Banks Watt,
ASID, LEED-AP, 2010-2011 ASID-IL chapter president.

Designers are welcome to submit their entries in 20 residential, contract and product design categories, including: kitchen, bath, small and large residences, singular residential rooms, corporate office spaces, retail, hospitality, green design and more.

A panel of distinguished interior design professionals from out of state will review the entries and select category winners on the basis of lighting, scale and proportion, color and composition, design creativity, function, solutions appropriate to the design criteria, materials and patterns. All entries will be judged by the highest standards of the profession, and are judged anonymously.

WINNERS ANNOUNCED IN THE FALL
All winning entries will be published in a private-label magazine that will be mailed after the “Celebration of Design Gala”, which will be held on Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Union League Club of Chicago. This ASID magazine is distributed throughout the year at special events held by the ASID Illinois Chapter. Additionally, select first-place winners will be published in the October Design Awards Issue of i4design magazine.
