Pearson Company, renowned for meticulously crafted, premium upholstered and occasional furniture, announced that it is set to open the doors to a new showroom located at 200 North Hamilton, North Court, Suite 107, at Fall Market 2010.

Mike Heath, president of Pearson and an employee of the company for 29 years is scheduled to cut the ribbon at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, October 16th, along with executives from Showplace and Hamilton Properties and other special guests.

“Pearson is a wonderful addition to the collection of high-end, designer inspired companies that are the foundation of Hamilton Properties,” says Lisa Shankle, general manager of Showplace and Hamilton Properties. “We are thrilled to welcome them to the Hamilton Wrenn Design District, the home of designers in the world’s home for home furnishings.”

“We’re very excited about our relocation from IHFC to the Hamilton Wrenn Design District,” Heath says, “since this is where we feel that our customers spend the majority of their time at High Point Market. The new location is more convenient for our customers, and the larger space has allowed our design team to really flex their creativity. We are looking forward to sharing the stunning results.”

Simply put, “the new showroom better symbolizes what Pearson stands for as a company,” relates Jennifer McConnell, vice president of design at Pearson, part of Furniture Brands International, one of America’s largest residential furniture companies.

“One of the attributes that has always set Pearson apart is that our furniture is beautiful from all sides,” she says. “Fittingly, the new showroom is a grand space—the rooms are more expansive and the ceilings are higher—and our customers will be able to really stand back and see the furniture. We’ve also been able to float more of the pieces so that each can be viewed from all sides, and they look magnificent.”

According to McConnell, among the highlights to watch for this Fall are elegant, barrel-shaped sofas with undulating curves, available with dressmaker skirt “for a very couture look, or with beautiful, tapered, solid maple legs and solid maple base,” McConnell describes. They are very sexy, and perfect to float in a room.”

In honor of the grand opening, “our goal was an elegant, more classic feel throughout the showroom, so we’ve used a lot of textures, and very sophisticated, though simple silhouettes in upholstery,” she continues. “Setting the stage as customers enter, will be an exclusive fabric, made for the company in Turkey, with a chocolate brown ground, and a huge, 58-inch repeat. Featuring an extraordinary bouquet of flowers, it’s very pretty, very sophisticated and very elegant,” McConnell says.

Another must-see, McConnell says, are new, 90-inch tall curio cabinets in mahogany veneers and solids, “with a quatrefoil mullion design on the glass doors. These are statement pieces, and given their height, they are hard to miss!”
