Furniture Veteran Michael Williams Dies At 71

Born May 22nd, 1940, Cardiff, Wales, U.K., Michael Williams died suddenly July 1st, 2010, at his home in
London, Ontario, in his 71st year.

Michael is survived by his partner of 20 years, Frederick Bogden, J. P. Bogden and his wife Vicki Tickle of Vancouver, B. C., Jennifer Bogden and her husband Dr. David Sam, Calgary, Alberta and their children Owen and Avery Sam together with a multitude of friends in Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and around the world.

Michael’s involvement and contribution to the home furnishings industry began in Wales, and continued when he arrived in North America in his mid-twenties. He joined The Bay, then Bauhaus Furniture and, since 1988, Highland House Furniture, Hickory, N.C.

Commented President Parker Goss, “Michael will be greatly missed by everyone with whom he worked. He cared about people.” Past President Tom Staats added, “He was a generous, hard working man, very thoughtful and loved by all.”

A celebration of Michael’s life will be observed on July 26th in London, Ontario. Details will be announced later.
