Nationally Renowned Business Coach and Top-Tier Interior Designers to Attend Winter 2019 Las Vegas Market

Furniture World News Desk on 12/5/2018

International Market Center recently announced that Gail Doby, professional consultant and business coach for interior designers, is hosting Boardroom III, a group of premier interior designers with total annual buying power of more than $20 million, at Las Vegas Market in January. During their five-day visit, the designers will meet with market exhibitors, explore product lines, and participate in a three-day business coaching session with Doby.

“We are thrilled to have Gail Doby and her Boardroom III designers coming to Winter Las Vegas Market,” said Karen Olson, Senior Vice President of Marketing for International Market Centers. “In addition to an exemplary educational opportunity, these designers will have the opportunity to discover new resources for their businesses and experience Las Vegas Market firsthand.”

Doby is also presenting How to Set Client Expectations & Keep Them, and You, Happy from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27. The special presentation is open to all Las Vegas Market attendees and will feature “smart steps” for helping designers set boundaries and manage client expectations. Topics covered in the presentation include: how to talk about fees and budgets; how to keep clients happy during stressful periods of a project; how to address unhappy clients; and more. The presentation is CEU-accredited and will be followed by a reception with Doby.

Boardroom III member Becky Charton noted that she is excited about participating in Las Vegas Market for multiple reasons.

“First, this gathering of design professionals challenges our team to grow and better ourselves,” Charton said. “They are a group of like-minded business owners that through the safety of the Gail Doby Coach & Consulting (GDCC) organization can be real, honest and truthful in our growths and setbacks. This atmosphere allows us to learn from and support one another.

GDCC continues to introduce us to new business practices not only for running our businesses, but also by hosting our events at new venues like Las Vegas Market,” Charton continued. “For us, this market will be our first trip to the Las Vegas Market, and our hope is to be exposed to new vendors and learn another market to be a resource for this amazing work we get to do! Can’t wait for January!”

Joe McGuire, co-owner and principal designer with Colorado-based Joe McGuire Design, is attending Las Vegas Market with Matthew Tenzin.

“We haven’t been to Market before and we’re excited to discover new vendors,” McGuire said. “This is a very nice impetus to expand our travel horizons and seems like the perfect time of year to visit Las Vegas.

“Our style is more crafted, high-end, maker, and we’re always looking for new vendors, and especially contemporary, modern lighting sources,” McGuire said. “We have done a lot of high-end residential design in Aspen and Boulder, Colorado, and also Chicago, and we look forward to sharing stories and learning about other designers and their businesses.”

Doby’s signature Design Success University and Genius Exchange are two of the coaching tools available to designers outside of Las Vegas Market. Doby and her business partner, Erin Weir, also offer custom programs — Strategic Business Transformation and VIP DAY — for design clients across the United States.

Strategic Business Transformation (SBT) is a 12-month skills training program with videos, tools, exercises and monthly live (phone) group coaching. This online coaching option works for designers who want the training, but need access after-hours and on weekends to strategies and tactics that are specific to the interior design industry.

VIP Day is a program that provides “immediate gratification breakthrough with transformational Co-CEO support,” according to company officials. The program was created in 2012 for SBT coaching clients that want to work directly with Doby to address their specific constraints with customized recommendations, proven strategies and proven tactics specific to their unique business.

"We're excited to host the first business retreat for our third Boardroom group — a mastermind of design firms with a minimum of $1 million in revenue per firm,” Doby said. “The total buying power of our attendees will be close to $20 million for the thirteen companies in 2019, which is a significant opportunity for Las Vegas Market and their resident showrooms. We look forward to expanding our client's businesses over the next year as they share best business practices with each other and find new resources."

How To Set Client Expectations & Keep Them, and You, Happy with Gail Doby is Sunday, Jan. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Casual Furniture Seminar Room, C-1312. For more information, go to https://www.lasvegasmarket.com/plan/event-seminar-landing.
