5th & Home Joins Furniture First

Furniture first announces that in a vote late last week, the Furniture First Board of Directors approved 5th & Home as a member of the cooperative buying group. 5th & Home is a new retail identity for the 96-year-old business that has operated as Stimson Furniture and Ashley Homestore in Victoria, Texas.

The Stimson family started selling furniture in Kenedy, Texas in 1922 and over time grew to several locations in South Texas. In 2005 the Victoria and Yoakum stores were converted to Ashley Homestores and the other locations were sold as the business responded to changes in the market and the furniture industry. Eventually, operations were consolidated to the current Victoria location, featuring an outlet in addition to the Ashley Homestore. Closure of the outlet was announced in June of this year, paving the way for the current rebranding and remerchandising efforts. Current owners Paige and Ben Streiff are the fifth generation of the family to operate the furniture stores.
