IFDA To Present The "Rising Stars of Design" Awards

The New York Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA NY) recently announced that it will hold its 11th annual “Rising Stars of Design” awards ceremony on Tuesday evening, January 9th at the Robert Allen Showroom, Suite 305, in Manhattan's D & D Building. The event runs from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Tyler Wisler of Tyler Wisler Home, an acclaimed interior designer who has been featured on hit shows like HGTV’s “Design Star,’’ ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and NBC’s “George To The Rescue" will serve as MC and introduce the honorees: 

  • Tamara Eaton, Tamara Eaton Design
  • Samantha Goldman and Samantha Polkow of Handin Browne
  • Ashley Darryl

as well as the product design honoree Michele Quan of MQuan Studio, a ceramic artist.

Each designer will share her inspirations and path to beginning her business and will be awarded the IFDA NY 2017 Rising Star Award. Luxury lifestyle industry insider and connector Rio Hamilton will be Instagramming the event. ASPIRE DESIGN AND HOME is the media sponsor.

Tamara Eaton Design, based in New York City, is a full-service interior design firm with numerous high-end residential and commercial projects, including those as far afield as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Saudi Arabia. Eaton was named a Curbed Young Designer in 2013 and her work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Dwell and other high-profile outlets. She is celebrated for her ability to blend old and new, functional and whimsical to create sophisticated, one-of-kind interiors that perfectly match clients' personalities and lifestyles.

Samantha Goldman and Samantha Polkow of Handin Browne. With a specialty in high-end residential projects in New York, Westchester and the Hamptons, the Manhattan-based duo met while earning their design degrees from the New York School of Interior Design. Their firm, Handin Browne, is inspired by clean, contemporary spaces that still feel inviting. They work closely with clients to mix streamlined interior and architectural elements with traditional shapes and collected pieces.
They often focus on space and flow, while neutral tones, natural materials and straight lines are a common thread in all projects.

Ashley Darryl. Best known for creating livable, unique spaces by blending styles into a cohesive, one-of-a-kind look, Darryl prides herself on bringing her client’s visions to life. At an early age, she was inspired by “the hunt” for unique design pieces. Accompanying her mother, also an interior designer, to flea markets and antique stores in East Texas, she learned early on the value of a diamond in the rough. Today, as she operates from her Ne York office, Darryl's diamonds in rough are vintage pieces from eras past. She loves mixing antiques with classic and contemporary pieces to create an eclectic look. Her impressive roster of clients is located all over Manhattan, Connecticut and the Hamptons. Her work has attracted the attention of Architectural Digest, House Beautiful and other top media.

Michele Quan of MQuan Studio in Brooklyn, N.Y., designs and sculpts handmade ceramic art and objects for the home and garden. The pieces become a canvas for her love of drawing, painting, text and color. Many of the objects and images are rooted in the visual symbols of Eastern iconography -- their meaning and beauty of which she is continuously in awe. Her ceramic forms are built by hand and wheel-thrown in stoneware or porcelain and all images are painted by hand. Other materials she uses include hand-dyed cotton, hemp rope and reclaimed wood. Her ceramic work continues an ongoing pursuit to bring visual form to the thread that connects us with the experience of the world in which we live.
