Spring Air Unveils New Chattam & Wells Line on Brand’s 25th Anniversary

Furniture World News Desk on 11/30/2021

Spring Air International has unveiled its next generation Chattam & Wells collection in honor of the brand’s 25th anniversary at its recent licensee summit in Boston.

The revamped line features seven models -- Lismore, Miramare, Chantilly, Ashford, Kensington, Windsor and Buckingham. The top three -- Kensington, Windsor and Buckingham, include layers of custom silk damask, cashmere, Talalay latex and horse tail fibers for supreme softness. Sourced from one of the finest upholstery mills for furniture applications, the border is unique in that it borrows its look from the furniture side of the business and includes a chesterfield tufted quilting in a cotton velvet. The legacy crown logo is also incorporated into the panel with tone-on-tone stitching.

The enhancements to the Chattam & Wells line were designed to appeal to today’s luxury consumer with elements like a neutral color palette and a pattern that creates visual texture. Inspired by royal influences and trends in fashion and design, the new look has a more luxurious feel with supportive layers designed to cradle the body. The collection includes distinctive elements such as a new quilted border and ultra-soft four-way stretch knit panel, Joma wool, horse tail, premium upholstery-grade fabrics and an advanced comfort edge. An eye-catching label fashioned with bronze further elevates the aesthetic. Two handles on each side are reinforced with box stitching reminiscent of a 1967 Corvette seat belt buckle.

Prices range from $2,199 - $6,999 in queen and the line will be available for delivery in December.

Introduced in 1996, Chattam & Wells was created as the first truly U.S.-designed luxury mattress. Handcrafted with the finest materials, the regal Chattam & Wells has maintained its indulgent appeal and its position as the premier mattress brand in Spring Air’s portfolio.

“The re-introduction of Chattam & Wells has been an evolution that has culminated in the next generation of the brand,” said Nick Bates, president, Spring Air International. “We spent a lot of time with our product development and branding teams and collaborated with our key stakeholders to evaluate every aspect of Chattam & Wells to offer enhancements that would not only reinforce the true luxury that exists in every detail but also to appeal to what today’s luxury consumer is looking for in their mattress.”

“We raised our own bar to elevate the line and create what luxury consumers are looking for in their mattress and directed the focus to a serenely rich, indulgent sleep experience that is exquisitely designed and wrapped in an amazing package,” added Bates.

One of the unique elements of the new design was that it was a collaboration with Spring Air’s California licensee.

“We were excited to be a part of the reimagining of this iconic brand. Our team focused on every detail to assure the enhancements and bed builds would meet the high standards of the brand not only to set it apart from other luxury brands but also to assure attractive margins for retailers,” said Pleasant Mattress CEO Rion Morgenstern.

Pleasant’s Chief Brand Officer Niki Weber also played an important role in the brand strategy and design.
