Homemakers Furniture Donates $20,000 to Breast Cancer Research Foundation

Homemakers Furniture has donated $20,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Urbandale based furniture store pledged a portion of every sale made from October 14th to November 3rd to this cause.
“Breast cancer is an issue that has touched so many of us on a personal level,” Homemakers Community Engagement Manager, Kelsey Merschman said. “Giving back and joining the fight against this terrible disease is something we all feel passionate about.”
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing funding for research worldwide to fight breast cancer. Founded in 1993, the organization has raised a billion dollars to carry out its mission and is the highest-rated breast cancer charity in the U.S.
This marks the third annual contribution Homemakers has given to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The money donated will go towards improving care and conducting research on breast cancer to improve and transform the lives of those affected.
“As a local, family-operated business, supporting our community is so important to us. We’re thankful for our customers that rally around our efforts to raise money for this cause,” said Merschman. “Supporting and empowering women is a huge passion of ours, as an organization, and we’re proud to give to such a life-changing foundation.”
In addition to this annual fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Homemakers supports women in the community by sponsoring the annual Remarkable Women event, regularly partnering with Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa and employing over 140 women.
