Independent bedding manufacturer Pleasant Mattress announced that it has continued its long-standing commitment to community service with a recent donation of $15,000 to Habitat for Humanity and pledged to expand its involvement with the organization in the coming months.

The donation was the result of the manufacturer’s annual “Friends and Family” sale during which time it gives the proceeds from the event to a local charity. The Habitat event was such a success that the company said it would expand the program in the coming months to include a team-build partnership where employees will volunteer time to work homes for families in need.

“Giving back doesn’t only include signing a check, it’s coming together as a team and providing for those who need it most. Being able to work hands-on with the organization will make the entire experience more rewarding. We’re excited to continue our partnership with Habitat for Humanity and make a difference in a community that has long-lasting ties with my family and our team,” said Rion Morgenstern, the third-generation family member to run the company and the current president and CEO of Pleasant Mattress.

This is the third year Pleasant Mattress has hosted its Friends and Family sale. The event sells factory samples, overstock and closeouts. Past recipients of proceeds from Pleasant’s sale include the Marjaree Mason Center, a Fresno non-profit that operates safe houses for domestic violence victims and the Poverello House, another Fresno group that provides shelter, food and clothing to the homeless.
