Schneiderman’s Furniture Hosts Golf Tournament to Benefit Nonprofits

Furniture World News Desk on 8/16/2019

Schneiderman’s Furniture hosted the Russ Schneiderman Memorial Golf Tournament on June 20, 2019 and raised more than $94,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest (RMHC-UM) and other non-profit organizations. First held in 1990, five years after Russ and Monica Schneiderman’s energetic and bright son Joey passed away from leukemia, the tournament was established as a way for them to thank the Ronald McDonald House for providing their family a home away from home during Joey’s two-year battle.  Since its inception, the tournament has donated $840,000 to RMHC-UM and an additional $90,000 to other charitable organizations.

When Russ Schneiderman passed away in 2011, his wife Monica and brother Larry changed the event’s name to the Russ Schneiderman Memorial Golf Tournament.  “Russ’s big heart and connections in the industry resulted in an annual event that was not only fun, but reflected his giving spirit,” said Jason Schneiderman, President of Schneiderman’s Furniture. In tribute to Larry Schneiderman, the 2018 tournament’s charitable focus expanded to include additional charities such as the University of Minnesota Parkinson’s Research Fund for the care and cure of Parkinson’s Disease.

According to Jill Evenocheck, RMHC-UM President and CEO, “The impact the Schneiderman family has had on our organization is truly remarkable.  The support from Schneiderman’s Furniture, their vendors, customers, and the golfers moves our mission forward allowing 6,600 families annually to be close to their child during a medical crisis --- an outstanding legacy of love and community”.

About Schneiderman’s Furniture: Our namesake and founder, Max Schneiderman, was a Minnesota iron ranger through and through. He built Schneiderman's Furniture on the principles rooted deeper than the iron ore mines that dot the region: value, respect and quality. However, the Schneiderman's Furniture story did not begin with furniture; it began with food and random odds-and-ends inside the family's small country grocery store. Eventually, the odds-and-ends stocked by Schneiderman's came to include furniture, and today, Schneiderman's Furniture has six stunning showroom locations, with four spread across the Twin Cities, one in Rochester, and one near our original home in Duluth. About RMHC-UM: Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest is a 501 (c) 3 organization that provides a comfortable and caring home away from home that supports keeping families together and reduces stress during a child’s serious illness.  Based in Minneapolis, the organization operates four locations in the Twins Cities and serves more than 6,600 families each year.  Additional information can be found at www.rmhtwincities.org.
