Ideas, Inspiration and New Connections Await at the IWCE

Furniture World News Desk on 1/16/2019

The International Window Coverings Expo (IWCE), scheduled for March 8 to 10 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, is the only trade show in North America that exclusively serves the window covering industry. That makes it the best opportunity for interior design professionals with an interest in the latest in shading systems and drapery to get training and product information that is specifically tailored to them.

This year’s show will feature over 120 vendor booths, more than 20 workshops by well-known and experienced industry professionals, a hands-on demonstration area, a big-name keynote speaker and plenty of opportunities make new contacts and find fresh ideas.

Window coverings are integral to designing a beautiful, functional room. A room’s window coverings are a finishing touch that pulls together a cohesive space. In addition to their design aspect, window coverings provide light control to protect fine furnishings, privacy and energy efficiency.  They are a lucrative and perfect add on for interior designers and home furnishing retailers.

For these reasons and more, make sure you don’t miss this year’s IWCE! Show highlights are as follows:

  • Television host and producer and home product designer Genevieve Gorder will give the keynote address on Saturday, March 9. A two-time Emmy nominee, Gorder has been featured in over 20 lifestyle shows around the world, including Netflix’s “Stay Here Now,” TLC’s “Trading Spaces” and HGTV’s “Dear Genevieve.”

  • Immediately following Gorder’s presentation, Window Fashion VISION magazine will present the annual Design & Workroom Competition awards. A total of 17 awards will be given, including Designer of the Year and Workroom of the Year.

  • Attendees can learn about hot topics such as motorization, influencer and digital marketing, trends in design and embellishments, and hiring and retention at a series of workshops presented throughout the event. Expert speakers include LuAnn Nigara, host of the design industry’s No. 1 podcast, “A Well-Designed Business;” Welton Hong and Roger Magalhaes, columnists for Window Fashion VISION, the premier trade magazine for the window coverings industry; and color expert JoAnne Lenart-Weary.

  • Back by popular demand this year is the Construction Zone, a hands-on demonstration area where participants can learn new workroom techniques in a hands-on setting.

  • The International Textile Alliance will feature members showcasing the latest in textile designs.

  • The expo hall will be home to several talks and presentations, including the “100 Best Ideas” seminar on Sunday, March 10. Window coverings experts will share the best ideas, products, examples and educational tidbits they gathered during this year’s IWCE.
