City Furniture Commits to Donate Five Percent of Annual Profits to Charities

Furniture World News Desk on 12/30/2018

City Furniture recently announced a pledge to donate a minimum of five percent of annual profits to a host of charities throughout Florida. The pledge reflects City Furniture’s decades-long role as a community steward and comes on the heels of a $1 million donation by the company in November to launch the capital campaign for Covenant House of Florida, addressing the needs of homeless and at-risk youth.

“We owe much of our success over the last 47 years to the communities that have allowed our business to grow,” said City Furniture CEO Keith Koenig. “We’ve always believed there’s no limit to the good we can do by partnering with deserving organizations that we’ve supported through fundraising, volunteering and activism.”  Koenig noted that with the company’s $100 million expansion well underway, the timing is right to step up its commitment to help empower organizations in the communities it serves to address critical causes with positive change.

The company’s giving, in cash and in-kind, will remain focused on five areas that City Furniture has long supported:

  • Home - Uplifting those in need by teaming up with Habitat for Humanity, United Way and community-focused groups

  • Health - Fostering physical and mental health with partners like the American  Cancer Society and
     the American Heart Association

  • Service -Supporting veterans, first responders and all who serve through organizations such as
the Wounded Officers Initiative and the Everyday Hero program with the Miami Dolphins

  • Diversity- Empowering equality through activism and outreach by working with the Urban League
of Broward County, Anti-Defamation League, and more

  • Education - Developing a brighter future with the help of Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward, Junior Achievement of South Florida and others

“Today more than ever, customers and employees rightfully expect companies to make a difference beyond the corporate bottom line,” said Koenig. “While the public announcement of our five percent public pledge is new, commitment to community has been part of our DNA since Day One.”
