Art Van Furniture and WXYZ-TV Collect More Than 15,000 Pounds of Food to Help Fight Hunger

Art Van Furniture reported that for the 10th consecutive year, metro Detroiters demonstrated their can-do spirit, donating 15,085 pounds of non-perishable food items as
part of the Art Van and WXYZ-TV "Together We Can" food drive to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. This year's campaign, which ran from Tuesday, November 6 through Friday, November 30, will provide 12,520 meals to families in need across southeastern Michigan.
"The generosity shown by our viewers and Art Van Furniture shoppers
during the past 10 years represents the true meaning of the holidays,"
said Mike Murri, vice president and
general manager of WXYZ-TV and WMYD-TV. "This annual campaign has an
enormous impact on the lives of those less fortunate in our
community."
Metro Detroiters opened their pantries and brought cans, bags and
boxes of food to 18 Art Van Furniture stores located in the communities
served by Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. The retailer's participating Michigan showrooms were in Ann Arbor, Auburn Hills, Bloomfield, Canton, Chesterfield Township, Clinton Township, Dearborn, Drayton Plains, Howell, Livonia, Novi, Royal Oak, Southfield, Sterling Heights, Taylor, Warren and Westland.
